Class Procedures

Entering the classroom:  Please enter quietly and go to your assigned seat.  Fill in your planner with homework assigned for that day on the board.  Get out any assignment that may be due for the day.  At the start bell work, teacher will take attendance.

Sharpening your pencil:  Please sharpen your pencil before the second bell.  If you need to sharpen your pencil during class, please raise your hand and ask for permission to use the classroom sharpener.

Storing your belongings:  Please place your backpacks well under your desk or at least as much out of the walkway as possible.

Throwing away trash: Please throw away all trash on your way out of the room.  If you need to leave your seat to throw trash away, please do so very quietly. Instead of crumpling up paper quietly fold paper into fours and follow the throwing away trash procedure.

Getting the teacher’s attention:  Please raise your hand and I will call on you.  I will also raise my hand to get your attention.  Please respond to that by ending conversations and silently raising your own hand.  Once attention has been given, your hand may come down.

Lining up (for library, gym, lunch, and computer lab):  Leave your backpack under your desk.  By rows, I will ask you to line up quickly and quietly by the door.  Please do not talk in line, stay in single file, and face the door.  You will follow me out of the door.

Leaving the classroom:  When the bell rings, please stay seated.  I will dismiss you by rows or sections.

Making up work from absences When you have returned from your absence, please check the classroom planner, make-up folder and the board. Make sure to check with a study buddy for missed work as well.  Making up missed work is solely your responsibility!

Hallway passes If you need to use the restroom, go to the nurse, or go anywhere else, you must first ask permission from the teacher and have your planner filled out by the teacher as your pass.  You may not use anyone else’s planner, so make sure you have it daily.
