Science

CURIOSITY is an important trait of a GENIUS.

"The imporant thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing"

-Albert Einstein

What is Science?

Science is investigative; it seeks out information through observations and experiments.

Science questions how living and non-living things grow, develop, and are sustained.

Science will help you answer many questions that you may have about why things are the way there are...

 Why do we learn it?

Science has always been a way for all of you to use your own curiosity and apply it to real life. That is how we find ourselves with genius' like Steve Jobs; the creator of the Iphone, Ipod & Ipad. He looked for a better way to communicate and he found it! Our technoogical world is far much more advanced because of Steve Jobs.

 Check out this cool video...

This is only ONE example of the many cool and neat projects we will be performing in our Science lessons.

We will be making our own edible Animal and Plant Cell Pizza's!!

 How science will be taught?

In the above video you see that we will creatively explore different avenues of learning. We maybe eating our animal and plant cells or we maybe testing hypothesis on bodies of water found around our school. In all of our studies we will be recording data, controlling variables, and graphing our results.

Science has so may different forms and functions that we will also be studying climate change, global warming, building our own atoms and watching objects in free fall. Yeap, free fall-- maybe even from the roof of our school!

 WEBSITES -TEACHERS -SCHOOL

Bubbles, Bubbles, and more Bubbles!

Assessing how much my students understand is the best way that I can help YOU! We will be using graphic organizers to organize our thoughts and complete our assignments. Most importantly I will help you become more familiar with pulling your ideas apart to better understand Science. If you click the link above you can begin to use the same graphic organizers that we will be using in class to start on an idea and see where it takes you. Mindmap!

WEBQUEST

How I will teach Science in my class will be fun and interactive. Webquest will be used in many of your projects. You will do different labs and experiments with your fellow classmates and Webquests will be your guiding tool for all those assignments and classroom activities. Each link you use will give you information and additional resources. I will also put games on each one of your Webquest for extra credit opportunities!

 Illinois Says So!

What I teach will be found on the Illinois State Board of Education Web site. Every teacher is responsible for getting you as prepared as possible for your next school year. I will always reference the Illinois State Standards to enhance our learning ventures!
